SUMMARY:Let It All Hang Out
DESCRIPTION:The Greening Committee invites you to join in a fun effort to support the environment. If you don’t already\, hang your laundry outside for one week. \n\n\n\n\n\nTake a photo and send it to the Greening Committee (greening@lakewalker.org).\n\n\n\nPhotos may be displayed publicly on the LW FB page or at an event. So\, maybe don’t have it all hanging out… (no undies\, please!)\n\n\n\nDon’t have a clothesline? Try a tree branch … or railing … or a fence? Get creative!\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy air dry? 10% of a typical household’s energy use is from the dryer. Air drying reduces that\, which is better for Mother Earth AND your wallet! It will keep your house cooler and reduce wear and tear on your clothes\, making them last longer. In addition\, your clothes will SMELL GREAT.

SUMMARY:LW Walking Book Club: The Black Butterfly
DESCRIPTION:Rain date: TBD. See “How do I join?” for how to let us know you want to join. \n\n\n\nHow does it work? Prepare for the club by reading the book: The Black Butterfly by Lawrence T. Brown. \n\n\n\nMeet at the intersection of Cedarcroft and Yorkshire. \n\n\n\nThe organizers will provide questions and discussion prompts and people can walk in pairs or small groups to discuss at their own pace. We will walk in a large group\, spread out so people have enough space for social distancing. The route will vary\, but prepare to walk about 1 or 2 miles at a casual pace around the neighborhood. \n\n\n\nHow do I join? All are welcome! Just read the book and meet us at the corner. No preregistration needed. It is helpful if we know you’re planning to come (in the case of last-minute changes); you can email us at newsletter@lakewalker.org to let us know. \n\n\n\nIf you have mobility issues\, please email newsletter@lakewalker.org and we can develop a walking route that allows you to participate. \n\n\n\nWhat are you planning to read? Our books tend to include diverse perspectives and ways of being in the world or to provide an actionable challenge to injustice. The selections include fiction and nonfiction\, and part of every discussion will be about our own roles in creating a welcoming community and being better neighbors. \n\n\n\nPast selections include Not In My Neighborhood by Antero Pietila and The Girl Who Fell From the Sky by Heidi Durrow. \n\n\n\nHow will I know about the next book selection? Keep up to date with announcements in the newsletter\, through Lake Walker email alerts\, or right here on the calendar on the Lake Walker website.
